I bought this coat in January 2018 just to walk the dog on early winter mornings and late winter nights. I hate going out in cold weather and, prior to ordering this coat, in any temperatures below 40 degrees, I would leave on my pj’s and heavy housecoat, add my warmest long wool dress coat and then add my husband’s heavy leather jacket! Plus, a neck scarf and/or face warmer and gloves. It was a warm combination, to be sure, but hardly flattering and exhausting to put on and take off all those layers!!!! I finally decided I needed an easier solution to the cold and ordered 3 options from Amazon. This one was the clear winner in terms of warmth and ease in getting dressed to go out. I put it on, zip it up and go! I wouldn’t even need gloves, because the pockets are so warm, if I didn’t have to have my hands exposed to hold the dog leash and a flashlight or cup of coffee. And it looks like a million dollars! I’ve ever worn this coat to church on very cold mornings and felt like it looked as good if not better than my usual business/dress coat. Now I never dread going out to walk the dog even with temperatures as low as 18 degrees; in fact I rather enjoy it since I’m so comfortable now and I don’t feel like I look like a bag lady.This week I machine washed the coat (without the hood) in cold water and dried it on a low temp with tennis balls for about an hour and a half because I had read somewhere that you should thoroughly dry down comforters to avoid the possibility of mold forming in the feathers. It came out looking brand new and fluffy as ever and I was thrilled! But when I put it on I realized that the zipper was broken after all of that banging around in the dryer. I am not upset, however, because the zipper is always the weakest link on any coat I have owned and I have had to have the zipper replaced on the last 3 (including this one) coats that I have purchased. I can still snap the coat up but it is not as warm so, when the weather gets warmer later this winter, I will take it to the tailor and have the zipper replaced, as I have done with my other coats. I just can’t bear to be without this coat, though, until the weather gets warmer and I don’t need to use it for awhile!!!!PS - Due to previous reviews, I bought a size up which allows me to leave on sweaters or light jackets that I may already be wearing when I go to walk the dog. The fit is good and surprisingly flattering for a puffy coat; it has some shape built into the line of the coat.
